Who best represents the year 2024? Time announced President-elect Donald Trump as its Personal of the Year.
Sam Jacobs, the Editor-in-Chief of Time, announced his selection on the “Today” show on Thursday morning. Trump was selected as the Person of the Year partially because of the political comeback that he waged.

It is Trump’s second time gracing the cover for the annual issue. He was selected as the 2016 Person of the Year after winning his first election.
Politico speculated on Wednesday that Time would select President-elect Donald Trump as the Person of the Year and that he would ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange to commemorate the honor.
When he took the balcony, the NYSE posted to X that “the trading floor was packed.”

He also signed the NYSE Book of Distinguished Guests.

- Kate Middleton
- Elon Musk
- Yulia Navalanya
- Benjamin Netanyahu
- Jerome Powell
- Joe Rogan
- Claudia Sheinbaum
- Mark Zuckerberg
Last year, Taylor Swift was named the 2023 Time Person of the Year and to announce her selection, Time CEO Jessica Sibley rang the NYSE opening bell, according to Politico.
Time picked WNBA’s Caitlin Clark as its 2024 Athlete of the Year and Elton John as the Icon of the Year.
